Made in Chelsea's Jamie Laing eyes international markets for Candy Kittens

Jamie Laing, the outspoken Made in Chelsea star behind sweet start-up Candy Kittens, has revealed plans to expand the brand internationally.

The US and Dubai are next in line to get Laing’s brand of “health-conscious confectionary”, he told the Independent, as he looks to double turnover in the next year.

Laing, heir to the McVities fortune, is better known for socialising around Sloane Street.

Other expansion plans for the sweets brand he launched in 2012 include a new vegetarian line to be unveiled in the coming months.

“We are a health conscious confectionary brand,” Laing said.

The moves are expected to help Candy Kittens hit sales of £2.5 million by March 2017. It is on track to reach £800,000 in the financial year ending next month, helped by Londoners en masse snapping up Sour Watermelon packs of sweets.

The brand is stocked in 1700 UK stores such as Waitrose but Laing told the Standard: “There are a few exciting partnerships being locked in this year.”

Most recently the company launched a crowd funding campaign with Seedrs to raise £300,000 to aid the expansion.
