Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing announced for Strictly Come Dancing after confusion

Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing has become the eleventh star to be confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing 2019.

The 30-year-old will be taking to the dance floor despite a rumoured reality TV star ban by the BBC.

Jamie's name was awkwardly let slip by radio presenter Iain Lee on Good Morning Britain last week but has only just been officially confirmed.

The exciting news was announced on today's Loose Women - with Jamie's identity being teased throughout the show.

Jamie, who is the heir to the creator of the McVitie's digestive biscuit, admitted he wanted to make his mum proud as she is a massive fan.

Jamie said: "I am beyond thrilled to be asked to be on Strictly, the only person potentially more thrilled is my mother. I have finally become the son she hoped for!”

He admitted he has "a little bit of rhythm" because he studied contemporary dance at university.

Jamie was also awkwardly asked about the Strictly 'curse' - as he is dating fellow MIC star Sophie Habboo.

Admitting they are not boyfriend and girlfriend, he said: "I think it's happened in the past but I’m not too worried. I'm sure no one wants to kiss me."

Jamie is no stranger to celebrity TV shows as he has also appeared on Celebrity Hunted, The Great British Bakeoff and Famous and Fighting Crime.

As well as his media presence, Jamie is also a successful businessman, having founded the sweets brand Candy Kittens in 2012.

His identity was teased throughout today's Loose Women

Loose Women viewers were asked to guess who the identity of the next Strictly star was after being given a series of clues.

The show's official Twitter account tweeted: "We will be revealing the next top secret Strictly contestant on today's show! Here's your first clue... Who do you think it could be?"

This was tweeted alongside a picture of a Chelsea football flag, while panelist Jane Moore put on a Blues' scarf.

She said: "I am a huge Chelsea fan and I love a digestive biscuit with my tea."

However, there was some confusion as Loose Women viewers were adamant that the mystery man was a footballer.

Some guessed that Wayne Bridge would be appearing, while others speculated it could be Chelsea manager Frank Lampard's wife, Christine.

But this caused some confusion in the studio as the Loose ladies incorrectly believed people thought Coleen Nolan was actually Christine.

David James will be saving some dance moves

This comes just hours after Paralympic table tennis champion Will Bayley MBE and Ru Paul's Drag Race star Michelle Visage were confirmed to be in the line-up.

Former England goalkeeper David James, Geordie comedian Chris Ramsey and EastEnders star Emma were announced on The One Show last week.

They will be joined by YouTuber Saffron Barker, Corrie favourite Catherine Tyldesley and BBC sport presenter Mike Bushell.

Also taking to the dancefloor will be CBBC host Karm Zeroual and Viscountess Weymouth Emma Thynn.

*Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm
