Made.com customers given November 25 cut-off for orders

People who are waiting for an order from collapsed furniture retailer Made.com have been told that if it hasn't arrived by November 25 it is unlikely to. After that date, customers will need to submit a claim to try to get their money back.

It has been reported that administrators PwC said that around 4,500 UK and Europe orders were already on their way to customers. However, a "large proportion" would not make it to customers because they were still being produced.

Made.com fell into administration last week and high street chain Next is buying its brand name for £3.4m. However, it will not be taking on any existing stock.

Customers have complained of being left with little information about the state of their orders. Now, the BBC reports, PwC has said that orders that are already with delivery companies will be with customers by November 25. Any that haven't arrived by then - thought to be around 12,000 orders - are unlikely to be fulfilled and won't be refunded by Made.com.

Instead, customers will have to make a Section 75 claim with their banks, if they paid by credit card, or what is known as a chargeback claim if they used a debit card. A refund is not guaranteed, though. It is also possible to write to the administrator - PwC - explaining what you are owed and what for.

A spokesman for PWC told the BBC that all customers who might have an unfulfilled order should have received an email with details on how to submit a claim. Further details for customers are also available online here.

"We recognise the uncertainty and frustration that some customers will be experiencing with regards to their orders," the spokesman added. They said that the collapse meant the company could not operate as usual.
