'Maddison next please!' - Arsenal fans in transfer meltdown with £50m deal set to be agreed

Arsenal are close to agreeing a fee with Brighton and Hove Albion for the signing of central defender Ben White.

As revealed by football.london earlier in the week, the Gunners were close to reaching an agreement with the Seagulls for the England international having seen an £40m opening offer rejected.

But as reported by David Ornstein, the two clubs are close to a £50million agreement now, with Brighton wanting the full fee upfront, while Arsenal are willing to pay £45million with £5million in add-ons.

Once the deal is completed - likely to be after White's involvement at Euro 2020 with England - he will become the latest member of Mikel Arteta's first-team squad.

And judging by the reaction from some Arsenal fans on social media, they are hopeful that White won't be the only new arrival at the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Luckily for those supporters, a squad overhaul has been planned by Mikel Arteta and Edu which means White could be one of several signings between now and deadline day.

Amid links to the likes of Andre Onana, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Yves Bissouma and Sander Berge, there are a couple of names that Gunners supporters hope are 'next' on the shopping list.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

@GoatanelliL said: "I think ESR should be our main CAM for this season and if we get UCL then go and get Grealish next summer (regarding he’s still at Villa)."

@nakicafc said: "Camavinga and Grealish next."

@Vernon_VanE said: "Maddison next please @Arsenal."
