‘Maddison next’ - Arsenal fans eye move for Leicester star amid Lokonga transfer update

Arsenal look set to complete the transfer of Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £18million.

The highly rated Belgian midfielder was a key player for Vincent Kompany's side last season making 37 appearances and captaining them on 26 occasions despite being just 21-years-of-age.

Lokonga will become the Gunners' second acquisition of the summer after the £7million signing of Portuguese left back Nuno Tavares from Benfica was confirmed on Saturday.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano says the deal to take Lokonga to the Emirates Stadium almost complete, with the Gunners just needing to reach an agreement on a future sale percentage.

The reporter claims Arsenal will pay €17.5millon (£15million) plus add-ons, while giving the midfielder a contract which runs until June 2026.

Romano also stated that Lokonga turned down multiple offers from Italy, choosing instead to join the Gunners. He will link up with the club after a mandatory quarantine period.

The Gunners have been linked to a host of players, with the likes of Ben White and Houssem Aouar among those of interest to the club, while recent reports have stated that the club are eyeing a move for Leicester City star James Maddison.

Naturally, the news has got Arsenal fans online excited for all their transfer dealings this summer.
