Arsenal might be hours away from announcing their first signing of the summer transfer window.
Bringing in a new left-back to provide back-up and competition for Kieran Tierney has been a priority since the January window when Sead Kolasinac was allowed to rejoin Schalke on loan for the second half of last season.
However, despite links to the likes of Ryan Bertrand and Patrick van Aanholt, no new left-back arrived at the Emirates Stadium.
A decision that would come back to haunt the Gunners in their bid to seal a top-seven finish as an injury to Tierney caused disruption to the side, with Granit Xhaka having to fill in at times.
Fast forward a few months and it is clear that Arsenal do not intend to repeat the same mistake as they are poised to confirm a deal for Benfica's Nuno Tavares.
Over the weekend, reports in Portugal, as per Sport Witness, provided details on when the 21-year-old could be announced as an Arsenal player.
After completing his medical, the left-back planned to travel to London last Friday where he would have had to quarantine for five days after stepping foot in England from Portugal.
In addition, the report stated that if everything goes as per the plan, the north London outfit would be able to unveil him from Tuesday July 6, 2021.
And some fans think an announcement is imminent.
As spotted by a few eagle-eyed supporters on Twitter and Reddit, Arsenal technical director Edu has reacted to all the transfer speculation by following Tavares on Instagram.
Therefore, judging by the responses below, a deal is all but complete and some fans are urging the Brazilian to repeat the same trick with a couple of other players linked with moves to the Emirates.
