‘Madden NFL 20’ player ratings: Taysom Hill receives major snub

The New Orleans Saints players just received a big bit of offseason news when EA Sports released player ratings for “Madden NFL 20,” the next entry in their long-running video game franchise.

For the first time in what feels like forever, quarterback Drew Brees did not lead the team in overall rating. That spot belongs to his favorite target, wide receiver Michael Thomas. Here’s the five highest-rated Saints players on offense:

And here are the five best-rated Saints players on defense, with defensive end Cameron Jordan leading the pack:

Most of this makes sense — Thomas, Brees, Kamara and Jordan are unquestionably some of the best players on the team. However, for some reason the developers at EA Sports lit into reserve quarterback and do-it-all football player Taysom Hill. Here are the five lowest grades, with long snapper Zach Wood at the bottom:

What do you think? How would you grade the Saints players against each other? Were some rated too high or too low? These are just launch grades, with the “Madden” team updating them throughout the 2019 NFL regular season on a week-to-week basis. So expect rookies and players lower on the list to jockey for position throughout the year.
