‘Madden 20’ thinks Vance Joseph is still coaching Broncos defense

EA Sports has some explaining to do.

After the 2018 season, the Broncos fired coach Vance Joseph and brought in Vic Fangio to replace him. Denver will use Fangio’s defensive playbook this season, but “Madden 20” has Joseph’s playbook in this year’s version of the popular NFL video game.

It gets worse, too. The commentators reference Joseph as if he’s still coaching the team!

I have loyally bought the game every year, including the new one & never complained. But, Denver's Defensive playbook is: Vance Joseph & the commentary in game literally mentioning him like he's still the coach. You've got to be kidding me

After being fired by Denver, Joseph was hired by the Cardinals to be their defensive coordinator. The Broncos missed the playoffs in both of Joseph’s two seasons with the team, and he’s not exactly fondly remembered in Denver, so fans haven’t been thrilled with EA Sports’ mistake.

Also…the Broncos defensive playbook is the VANCE JOSEPH playbook. Gross as hell, I dont want his name associated with the Broncos at all. Fix that shit @EAMaddenNFL. #Madden20

Other than the Joseph mistake, the Broncos do look pretty sharp in this year’s version of “Madden,” which hit stores Friday. Superstar outside linebacker Von Miller no longer has a perfect rating of 99 overall, but he is still Denver’s highest-rated player (view all the Broncos’ player ratings here).
