Speed in Madden NFL games these days isn’t as overpowered as it used to be, but it’s still a formidable weapon.

It’s also the single attribute players are most likely to take umbrage with if they think their digital version isn’t adequately representing their real-life abilities. With a full list of the player ratings available via EA Sports, I honed in on the players with the gaudiest speed ratings.
Here are the 10 fastest players at launch for Madden 19.
- Tyreek Hill, 98, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
- John Ross, 07, WR, Baltimore Ravens
- Damiere Byrd, 96, WR, Carolina Panthers
- Rico Gafford, 96, CB, Tennessee Titans
- Corey Grant, 96, HB, Jacksonville Jaguars
- Jakeem Grant, 96, WR, Miami Dolphins
- Jalen Myrick, 96, CB, Jacksonville Jaguars
- J.J. Nelson, 96, WR, Arizona Cardinals
Notes about the Madden speed merchants: The Jaguars are the only team with more than one player in the Top 8, though I wouldn’t expect Grant or Myrick to get a ton of burn. That is, of course, unless you elect to put both men back as kick returners. That would make for a scary duo for special teams units to handle.
Grant is the only non-CB or WR on the short list. In fact, you have to move down to 21st place and Washington Redskins free safety Troy Apke to find another player on the list who isn’t a CB or WR. It should also be noted, speed is great, but when combined with a high acceleration rating in Madden, you have an instant game breaker on your hands.
Hill also tops the first Madden player ratings list with a 98 acceleration rating. Speedy San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin, who just missed the list above with a 95-speed mark is second at 96. Madden releases for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 11, but customers who pre-order the Hall-of-Fame edition can receive the game on August 7 and EA Access members (Xbox One only) can it on August 2.
