Madcap Rangers conspiracy sets Hotline ablaze as angry Aberdeen punters told wind your necks in

Aberdeen may feel 'shocked' at the SFA's decision to throw out an appeal against Graeme Shinnie's red card against Ross County but the Hotline wasn't so surprised.

The Dons midfielder also had his suspension increased from three games to four by a Scottish FA tribunal and opinion was split over the player's challenge on Jack Baldwin. Craig Dewar, Glasgow, said: "Shinnie can have no complaints as it was a red card all day long and the County player was fortunate not to have suffered a serious injury. Aberdeen were wasting the SFA's time by appealing what was the correct decision so I don't understand their outrage. It was a shocking challenge and the intent was clear as day."

Mark Gallagher, Perth, said: "Aberdeen are asking for a new review panel to look at Shinnie's challenge and I presume they believe it will come to a different conclusion. If they get their wish and that appeal fails will they ask for another panel to be arranged so they get it thrown out eventually? Shinnie was fortunate his follow-through in the tackle didn't cause a career ending situation for Baldwin so I just don't get why they feel so aggrieved. These types of tackles need to be outlawed in football."

Ian Wilson, Stirling, said: "The culture in Scottish football is for clubs to complain about everything when they don't get their way and it is bordering on playing the conspiracy card. Shinnie was an open and shut case, anyone who defends that type of challenge doesn't understand football as it displayed disregard for an opponent's safety. Aberdeen can scream and shout all they want but it was fully deserving of the red card and a long ban."

Robert Caw emailed: "It’s ridiculous a four game ban for Shinnie. He clearly won the ball and if you can’t tackle we would as well stop playing football. I have seen some attempted tackles that escaped punishment. Was Baldwin badly hurt? No, he was back on after a couple of minutes. The problem now is the stupid footwear they play in now."

Arthur Wyllie emailed: "Aberdeen rightly appealed against Shinnie's unjust red card last Friday. It was absolutely certain that this appeal would be turned down. Why? Because if the appeal is successful, he would have been able to play against Rangers on Sunday."

Andrew Lamb, Fraserburgh, emailed: "Aberdeen can have no complaint as it was a foolish decision to appeal the red card. Shinnie could have broken the boy's leg up in Dingwall."

Eddie Esson Ballingry, said: "Hotline regular Robert Pender thinks it’s not a problem that Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos will leave for nothing at the end of the season.

"It wasn't that long ago these players were supposed to be the crown jewels. £50m for the Colombian and £30m for Kent was what the Ibrox hierarchy were saying two years ago. I’ve got news for Dr Robert, it’s an unmitigated disaster and a terrible business practice."

Robert Pender emailed: "It is not unusual for top sports people to employ their own physios .The report about Borna Barisic hiring his own is aimed at discrediting Rangers medical team. Having worked in Serbia I can confirm that their rehab medics are among the best worldwide."

Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: "Just think what Liel Abada would be worth if played in a winning Celtic team in Europe, then again what would he be worth if he could make the starting XI in Scottish football? £10 million for an injured reserve player, no laughing at the back now."

Jamie Young emailed: "These commentators and Celtic fans who are low saying they must be the most ambitious team in Europe. What have Celtic won recently in Europe? They are deluded. Celtic have won five knockout ties after Christmas in 48 years. Rangers have won five knockout ties after Christmas in the last 14 months."

Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, said: "As usual we have Hotline callers reminding Celtic how bad we supposedly are in Europe. "I was at the Real Madrid game, they are the perennial Champions League winners and we were brilliant against them."
