Madame Tussauds launches Royal Palace experience ahead of King’s coronation

To mark the coronation of King Charles III, Madame Tussauds London is launching The Royal Palace experience, in the hope of giving guests a look beyond the gates of Buckingham Palace.

It will see the monarch, who will be officially crowned on May 6, sport a new outfit, paying homage to the one he wore to the first-ever State Banquet of his reign back in November 2022. Medal specialists, collectors, and an extensive wardrobe team worked for more than 140 hours to create the final look.

Aside from the new King and Queen Consort, the experience includes the wax figures of the late Queen Elizabeth II alongside her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Diana, and Queen Elizabeth I.

Visitors will be able to rub shoulders with royalty in the Throne Room, pose with an afternoon tea set-up in the Royal Drawing Room, and mingle with some of the palace’s closest celebrity friends, like Dame Judi Dench and Sir Mo Farah.

Talking about the new addition to Madame Tussauds London, the attraction’s general manager, Tim Waters, said: “If you want to get close to the Royals and get a true sense of what it feels like to be part of the British monarchy, then this is a totally unparalleled experience.

“In a year that sees the official start of a new chapter in the history of the British monarchy, Madame Tussauds London is giving our guests the opportunity to get closer to the Royal Family in a fun and immersive way that only we can offer,” he added.

To celebrate the new experience, the museum recently welcomed a patriotic pack of corgis to enjoy a VIP tour before it’s opened to the public.

The Royal Palace experience will launch on Tuesday, March 28, and tickets can be bought from the official Madame Tussauds London website.
