Mad footage shows huge queues as Krispy Kreme in Blanchardstown opens drive through for first time in months

Huge queues formed outside Krispy Kreme as the doughnut company opened its doors for the first time in months.

The major fast food chain re-opened its sole Irish store, based in Blanchardstown, Dublin, on Wednesday to serve frontline members from HSE, Gardai and firefighters.

However, the general public have been asked to hold off until Monday 25th before visiting their store.

But that hasn't stopped major queues forming outside the restaurant as hungry doughnut lovers wait in line for the popular treat.

The store opened this morning at 11am to provide the frontline staff with complimentary hot drinks and 3-pack original glazed doughnuts.

CEO of Krispy Kreme UK and Ireland Richard Cheshire said in a statement: "As the coronavirus crisis evolves, all of us at Krispy Kreme want you to be fully informed on the steps we are taking to protect our people and our fans during the challenging conditions we all face today.

"I am sure that one thing everyone will be united on right now, is the admiration and respect we have for our critical services, working tirelessly on the frontline fighting this pandemic.

"We are also seeing uplifting acts of kindness in local communities, by individuals and groups, going above and beyond to support vulnerable people.

"Therefore I am pleased to advise you that Krispy Kreme doughnuts has re-opened its Blanchardstown store, solely to serve frontline and wider community heroes."

On Monday, people outside of frontline staff will be allowed to visit the shop but only if they are within the 5km government restrictions.

That means if you are in Clonee, Ongar, Castleknock, Palmerstown and a number of other areas you are in luck.

But those living in parts of Lucan, Leixlip, Ballyfermot and Finglas unfortunately aren't within the required radius.
