'Mad 12 months' - Defender makes Liverpool admission after loan move

Liverpool’s young full-back Conor Bradley has reflected on his whirlwind year and said he ‘never expected half the stuff that has happened’.

Bradley joined League One side Bolton Wanderers on a season-long loan deal earlier this month. The right-back made his debut for Liverpool last season in a Carabao Cup tie away at Norwich City and also featured in FA Cup and Champions League fixtures. In total, he made six appearances across the campaign.

Bradley also experienced a brilliant year for the Reds' Under-23s side and was nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Season award. He has now also won eight caps for Northern Ireland, having made his international debut in May 2021.

Bradley will join a Bolton team who finished ninth in League One last season. And, speaking for the first time after completing his move, the 18-year-old discussed his experiences at Liverpool.

“From 12 months ago, I never expected half the stuff that has happened,” he told Bolton’s YouTube channel. “It has been a mad 12 months but I’m looking to kick on and keep going this year as well.

“Being with [the Liverpool squad] every day is only going to help you. Just seeing the different ways they work hard and bring their game into training. Just seeing that every day was a great learning curve for me and hopefully it will be something I can take to Bolton.”

And the Northern Ireland international is relishing the opportunity to play regular first-team football at the former Premier League club. He said: “I can’t wait for the challenge. I know it is going to be tough and there will be ups and downs, but I just can’t wait for it.

“Hopefully, I can do the best that I can and the team can also do the best that we can and push for promotion. My first day was yesterday and everyone was just so welcoming to me and I am grateful to them all for it. It just makes me even more eager and I can’t wait to start.”
