Macy Gray wants to sing Proclaimers and dance around her handbag at Glasgow's Playground festival

Grammy award winning 'I Try' hitmaker Macy Gray says she'd love to sing Proclaimers song 500 miles and dance round her handbag at Glasgow's Playground festival.

Macy, who will play the Scots fest in September, alongside Nile Rodgers and Martha Reeves, says she will lean the words to 500 Miles for her Scottish crowd.

In fun Facebook live interview In The Lyons Den, she revealed she want to party like its 1999, and said: "If I do a cover what cover should I do? 500 Miles? Oh I love that song. We're doing it.?

"I'm going to wear a kilt and sing 500 Miles with a purse (handbag) on the floor - and eat something fried."

Macy also revealed she'd be hitting the casinos in Glasgow after she plays.

The singer who has confessed in the past that she has a passion for gambling, and enjoys blackjack and poker, said: "How's poker over there? Do they have big poker rooms there?

"I'll be there. That's the thing about poker.

"If you start losing you end up cancelling everything.

"If you win you think you're going to win everything. I'm definitely not going to play the same day as the show."

She revealed she has Cointreau on her rider and that she's looking forward to seeing Boy George and Nile Rodgers who will be joining other artists at the festival as well as Martha Reeves.

She also spoke of recording song Leave Me Lonely with Ariana Grande in 2016 and going to her birthday party after it.

She said: " We didn't work together on the studio and we did parts at different times. Ariana Grande had a birthday party."

Macy said: "I went to her birthday party. I couldn't wait to get out of there cause everybody there was seventeen."

She chuckled: "I looked around and thought I have to get out of here. It was a bunch of kids and at nineteen, twenty one they start philosophising on their perspective of things.

"I couldn't do that so I had to go.

"I was like, I'm leaving now. Nice to meet you. It's cool. She's a sweet girl."

For Playground Festival which runs from September 24-26 at Rouken Glen however, Macy will have her party pants on - and we can't wait.
