Grant Brebner's troubled reign as Melbourne Victory's A-League coach has come to an end with a 7-0 humiliation from crosstown rivals Melbourne City on Saturday costing him his job.
Socceroos forward Jamie Maclaren scored a league record-equalling five goals as City humiliated Victory for the second time this season having beaten their hapless rivals 6-0 earlier in the campaign.
After the defeat Victory chairman Anthony Di Pietro confirmed Brebner had been removed from the position, with the once-proud club last on the ladder with just three wins from 16 matches.
