Mackay teens tap dance their way to Brisbane for musical

Two teenage boys from regional north Queensland have landed tap-dancing roles alongside four of Australia's leading stage and screen stars.

Mackay teens Noah Taylor and Regan Walker, both 13, will take to the stage with Australian performers Michael Falzon, Luke Kennedy, Rob Mills and Ben Mingay in the production, Swing on This, early next month.

Regan said he was thrilled with the opportunity to be a "mini-me for one of the famous guys" and hopes it will open doors for more musicals.

"I want to do musicals when I'm older and around the world," he said.

The boys' tap teacher, Margot Mckendry, said they were extremely passionate and had honed their skills through a boys tap class.

"The boys have been fortunate this year, we've had a class where we had just boys in it so they sang and tapped all together," she said.

"That's a unique opportunity in Mackay.

"The boys express themselves more when it's just with each other."

The pair took out two of the four roles in the production, competing against 45 hopefuls from around the state.
