Mack Wilson playfully offers to help the Browns on offense

The Cleveland Browns signed Austin Hooper to a major contract to become the team’s top tight end this offseason. The Browns have considerable depth at TE with David Njoku, Pharaoh Brown, Stephen Carlson and fourth-round rookie Harrison Bryant, too.

But the recent trade request by Njoku and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, got the wheels turning for linebacker Mack Wilson. He playfully threw his name into the hat as a potential replacement for Njoku in Cleveland’s TE-heavy offense under new head coach Kevin Stefanski.

First, Wilson posted a clip of him snagging some short tosses with one hand.

Then he expanded upon it with an eyebrow-raising thought…

Given that he’s a starter at linebacker — arguably the thinnest position on the entire roster — a move to TE is not in the cards for Wilson. But it’s fun to consider wrinkles where Wilson might get a gadget play on offense. It looks like he’s ready for it.
