Mack Wilson earned PFF’s top grade of any player in the 1st week of preseason games

Mack Wilson’s NFL career is off to a flying start. The Cleveland Browns linebacker earned the top grade of any player on any team from Pro Football Focus in the first week of preseason games.

Not bad for a fifth-round rookie!

Wilson picked off two passes in the Browns’ 30-10 romp over visiting Washington, including a pick-six off fellow rookie Dwayne Haskins. That wasn’t all the Alabama product did vs. the Redskins to earn the top grade and a place on PFF’s Team of the Week,

The performance of the week by any player in the NFL, and it’s really not that close. Wilson picked up two hurries from three plays where he blitzed, but it was the plays where he dropped into coverage that earn him this spot on the team of the week. Two interceptions, both which were impressive athletically, one of which he brought back for a touchdown. Now that’s how you make an impact.

Wilson wasn’t the only Browns rookie to make the Team of the Week. Punt returner Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi also earned a spot with his epic TD return.
