Mack Hollins gives blunt reason for why the Dolphins were struggling

The Miami Dolphins were not a fun team to watch during the first half of the season. They won their first game against the New England Patriots, but they dropped their next seven.

Now, Brian Flores’ team appears to have hit their stride, winning their last four contests. Many involved with the team have stated that they were just putting in the work and eventually the wins would come, but one of the vocal leaders in Miami doesn’t necessarily agree with that sentiment

On Thursday, wide receiver Mack Hollins was asked why the team has won more if they say they are just doing the same things as before, and Hollins gave a blunt response, that was a bit surprising.

“Honestly, I don’t think we were doing the same things,” Hollins said. “I think we talked about it more than we did it. We said we practice hard, but we weren’t really practicing hard. We said we were studying extra film. We weren’t studying extra film. We said we were coming in and meeting, and we weren’t. I think when guys realized we can win if we do it, we started doing it more.”

If that’s true that’s pretty telling, and it’s an issue. Miami was in a rut and needed something to pull them out. Maybe it was getting the veterans healthy or the younger players adjusted to the NFL competition that finally turned them around, but there should’ve been more work, especially if they were talking about it and not doing it.
