'Machete' yobs force woman to hand over e-scooter

A woman in her 40s was forced to hand over an e-scooter to a group of yobs after she was threatened with a weapon.

The woman was on a cycle path on Broadway Bridge in Norris Green at around 6.40pm yesterday when she was confronted by three teenagers, one of whom was armed with a weapon.

A relative of the victim told the ECHO that one of the teenagers was wearing a maroon coloured hat and was armed with a machete.

The offenders abandoned the e-scooter nearby and ran off.

The victim was not hurt.

The incident happened on a section of the Liverpool Loop Line cycle path on Broadway Bridge in Norris Green.

A police spokesman said today: "At 6.40pm yesterday, Tuesday 4th May, we received a third party report that a woman in her 40s had her electric scooter stolen.

"It is believed the woman was on a bridge over Townsend Avenue and Utting Avenue East in Norris Green when she was approached by three youths and told to get off the scooter. It is believed one of the youths was armed with a weapon.

"The males took the scooter which was later recovered. The woman wasn’t hurt.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
