Machete wielding robber forced open till before making off on bike following Kenton raid

A machete raider is being hunted by police after robbing a Kenton shop.

Terrified staff were left shaken after the robber targeted the Londis branch in Kenton Park Shopping Centre, in Salters Road, on Saturday.

The raid happened less than an hour before the store closed.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 7pm on September 29, police received a report of an armed robbery at Londis in Kenton Park Shopping Centre, Newcastle.

“It was reported that a man entered the premises in possession of a machete and threatened a member of staff. The offender then forced open the till before leaving the area on a bicycle.
