Machete robbers escape with £3,000 cash after raid on Stretford Co-op

Machete robbers escaped with thousands of pounds in cash following a raid at a shop in Stretford .

Co-op Food on Barton Road was targeted by thieves at around 8pm on Wednesday night.

Police say two thugs went into the store wearing balaclavas and carrying machetes.

They threatened staff and demanded money from the safe.

It is understood they escaped the scene with around £3,000 in cash.

No one is believed to have been injured, but staff were left shaken by the robbery.

An investigation is underway and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

GMP said: "At around 8pm on October 30 two offenders armed with machetes and wearing balaclavas went into Co-op on Barton Road.

"They demanded money from the safe.

"Around £3,000 was taken. Staff were left shaken."
