'Machete' pictured inside wrecked car after it flipped on its side in crash

This was the dramatic scene after a car crash in Middleton on Friday night.

A Ford Fiesta flipped onto its side and became wedged on some metal railings on Market Place.

Witnesses say police later removed two machetes from the Fiesta.

One of the blades was pictured with its handle wrapped in red tape by the driver's seat.

It's thought the Fiesta hit another car before ploughing into the railings.

A third vehicle involved in the incident failed to stop at the scene.

Paramedics treated two children following the crash, a witness said.

The Fiesta was later recovered by a crane.

No arrests have been made.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "At around 7.40pm on April 16 police were called to the scene of a road traffic collision at Market Place, Middleton.

"There were no injuries reported. One of the vehicles involved failed to stop at the scene.

"No arrests were made, enquiries in relation to this incident are ongoing."

North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for a comment.
