A 'machete attack' victim attacked in a Glasgow flat shouted 'I love you mum' as paramedics transported him into an ambulance.
Emergency services were called to reports of a man attacked within the block of flats on Royston Road on Monday evening.
A source told the Record three men wearing balaclavas fled the scene in a blue car after the incident unfolded.
It is understood one masked man was bitten by an American Pitbull type dog after trying to access the first floor flat by climbing onto a veranda.
The source said: "One of the three men wearing balaclavas had tried to climb the veranda to get into the flat but the guy got bitten by the dog out on the balcony.
"I've no idea how they managed to get into the block because the service buzzer had stopped.
"They ran out of the flat into a blue car and drove off.
"The guy who was attacked was brought out in a stretcher wrapped in tinfoil by paramedics.
"He shouted 'I love you mum' in the street before he was taken into the ambulance. He must have thought it was bad.
"His mum wasn't there at the time but she turned up and was standing at the side with another young girl who was crying."
The victim is believed to be a young man who was not from the local area.
His current condition is unknown.
The area was cordoned off by police for hours after the incident.
It has since reopened and one police vehicle remains at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.45pm on Monday, 25 April, 2022, officers were called to a report of a man having been seriously assaulted within a property in Royston Road, Glasgow.
"The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated for his injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”
