Macbeth child star follows family tradition as she bids to be crowned Miss Teen GB

A Lanarkshire beauty who starred on the silver screen is hoping to follow her mum's teen pageant queen dream as she bids to take the Miss Teen Great Britain crown.

Amber Rissmann, from East Kilbride, has reached the semi-finals of the national beauty competition, previously won by Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague in 2015.

The talented 15-year-old has already had her first taste of the spotlight starring alongside Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender in the screen adaptation of Macbeth when she was just seven-years old.

Amber played a witch in the visually stunning screen rendering of the classic Shakespearean tragedy, with Fassbender playing the anguished future King of Scotland, and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard playing Lady Macbeth.

She is now eager to follow in the footsteps of her former model mum, Lydia, who won the title of Miss St Helens in 1996 when she was 16-years old.

Amber, who is a keen skateboarder and cheerleader for local squad Phoenix Flames, told us : "Making it through to the semi-finals is amazing.

"I couldn’t actually believe it when I got the email. I can't wait to hopefully meet the other girls and make lifelong friendships."

Reflecting on her film role, Amber said working on Macbeth was an experience she'd "never forget".

She told Lanarkshire Live : "It’s crazy too see my face in my English class all the time as we are studying the film.

"Michael and Marion were the most lovely people to work with. Michael was so sweet and was always checking in on me, he even gave me his hot water bottle on a particularly cold day."

Amber will compete for the crown alongside teens from across Britain in a glittering grand final in Blackpool this October.

There the winner will walk away with a cash prize after enjoying a beauty queen challenge day and a pyjama diva party.

In the lead up to the event, the Mearns Castle High pupil will be appealing for the support of her hometown while fundraising for the pageant's chosen charity, Together for Short Lives .

The charity helps give children and young people in the UK with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions the best end of life care.

Having just completed her school prelims, the keen cook - who reached the final of East Renfrewshire's Future Chef schools contest - hopes to showcase her culinary skills by baking and selling cakes in aid of the charity.

And, if she raises the most amount of money, she could earn herself an automatic spot in the grand final.

Proud mum Lydia, who owns the Strathaven Hotel, told Lanarkshire Live she is thrilled her daughter is making her mark in the beauty world.

The 41-year-old said: "It's quite sweet to see Amber following in my footsteps.

"I won Miss St Helens when I was 16, so its somewhat of a family tradition now.

"She grew up with me modelling and taking part in pageants, then saw the success of the current Miss Scotland and previous winner Molly-Mae Hague, so thought she'd give it a go.

"The judges were very impressed with her photographs and application and that she appeared in Macbeth.

"Amber is extremely lovely, confident and would do anything for anyone, she really is the salt of the earth.

"I see her going far and hope she goes all the way to the grand finals."
