Macauley Langstaff attracting interest from Championship clubs, reports say

Notts County’s prolific frontman Macauley Langstaff is attracting interest from as high as the Championship, according to reports.

The pair of Plymouth Argyle and Ipswich Town, both promoted to the second tier this season from League One, are said to be keen on signing the 26-year-old who endured a brilliant debut campaign with the Magpies.

Langstaff continued his hot goalscoring form from his time with Gateshead as he arrived at Meadow Lane to try and help Notts get back into the Football League, scoring 42 goals in 47 appearances as he helped County to a staggering 107 points and promotion via the play-offs.

It is no surprise then to suggest that there might be interest from higher up the pyramid in the forward, who still has two years left on his current deal. With sizeable time left on his contract coming off a terrific campaign, it would take a sizeable transfer fee for County to part ways with their talisman.

However, there is no doubt that teams as high as the Championship would be able to offer a large sum, and according to Football League World, even Wrexham are considering a surprise swoop for Langstaff with the sizeable financial backing they have.

Keeping ahold of Langstaff will be one of the top priorities for Luke Williams this summer, with the early betting odds for next season placing County and their Welsh counterparts Wrexham as the top favourties for the League Two title.

In a recent interview with Teesside Live, Langstaff touched on his future with Notts and did not seem to rule out any possibility this summer in a story that will like rumble on for some time yet.

He said: "I get asked that quite a lot but I have got two years left on my contract as I signed a three-year contract in the summer. Obviously, Notts gave me the platform to do what I have done and I have loved my time here.

"The fans have been unbelievable and the club is special as well. I think I'm going to enjoy the next few weeks and whatever happens in the summer happens. But in my mind, I have got two years left in my contract so I am just focusing on being with Notts."
