Macaulay Culkin says his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood audition was a 'disaster'

Macaulay Culkin has revealed that he went for a role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but the audition did not go well.

The film triumphed at this year’s Oscars, with Brad Pitt winning his first Academy Award as an actor for his performance as a stunt double to Leonardo DiCaprio’s washed-out star.

While Culkin did not reveal which role he tried out for, he said: “It was a disaster. I wouldn’t have hired me.”

He told Esquire: “I’m terrible at auditioning anyway, and this was my first audition in like eight years.”

In the same interview, Culkin spoke out about Michael Jackson and the allegations of sexual abuse made against the late singer.

Culkin, who starred as a child in films including Home Alone, spent a lot of time with Jackson when he was young, and still refers to him as his friend as well as being the godfather of Jackson’s daughter, Paris.

"Look,” Culkin said. “I’m gonna begin with the line – it’s not a line, it’s the truth: He never did anything to me. I never saw him do anything.

"And especially at this flash point in time, I’d have no reason to hold anything back. The guy has passed on.”
