If you, too, thought the recent Mac Jones-at-No. 3 hype was fool’s gold, the latest odds will be music to your ears.
Last week, the Alabama quarterback was the betting favorite to land with the San Francisco 49ers at the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, but the latest odds from BetMGM have Ohio State’s Justin Fields jumping ahead of him.
Jones still has a decent lead over North Dakota State’s Trey Lance for the No. 2 spot in those odds, but it looks like Fields’ performance at his second pro day workout earlier this week may have given him a leg up on the rest of this year’s top quarterbacks for that No. 3 spot.
Considering Fields is easily the second-best quarterback in this year’s class, he should indeed be the no-brainer pick for the 49ers.
