Mac Engel: Police report reveals Terrance Williams' drunken stupidity

FORT WORTH, Texas _ Terrance Williams' dog did not eat his homework, but the excuse(s) he gave to the cops after he was popped on a charge of public intoxication are almost as convincing.

The new No. 1 receiver for the Dallas Cowboys was arrested by the Frisco PD in the early, early morning hours of May 19. His Lamborghini was already crashed into a light pole. There was no driver inside the car, and the cops found Mr. Williams away from the scene of the accident, on an electric bike.

According to the police report from the Frisco PD, T-Will threw fellow Baylor alum Kendall Wright so far under the bus he may have tire tracks on his back, legs, hands and face.

Williams told the cops that it was Wright who crashed the car, even though the keys to the automobile were in Williams' pocket.

Again, this is so not a big deal. Happens all the time. Common sense demands that after your friend crashes your car, and you're so hammered drunk you can't spell your name, the first thing to do is take the keys back and put them in your pocket. Can never be too safe.

The police report states that Williams told the cops he was just "driving down the street and he fell" off his electric bike. At 4:40 in the morning. He told the cops the bike just had a malfunction; that he had just bought it and was just trying it out.

Common sense says the best time to operate a new bike, car, boat, etc. is before 5 a.m. That may actually be in the manual.

Williams told the cops he played for the Cowboys, which, given the extended state of mediocrity of the team these days, may be a good reason to throw a guy in jail. He said he would "never put himself in a (blanked) up situation where (the police) would be there."

So his heart was in the right place.

When asked about the arrest of his new "best receiver" on Wednesday, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett would only say that he had spoken with Terrance, but would not comment further because this incident is still under investigation.

Here is what we know: T Will is an average receiver who, with the release of Dez Bryant, was just handed the keys to be the No. 1 on America's Team. T Will was wasted drunk on May 18/19. His car was involved in an accident. T Will is also a spokesman for Lyft. T Will threw a friend under the bus.

And another Dallas Cowboys' season is off to a great start.
