MAC cosmetics cancels makeover appointments and introduces a 'no touch' policy across UK

Make-up artists at MAC are now forbidden from demonstrating products on customers (Picture: Getty Images )

Mac Cosmetics has introduced a strict 'no-touch' policy in all of its UK stores today in a bid to crackdown on coronavirus.

A screenshot shared on Twitter showed an internal e-mail that had been sent to all Mac Cosmetics UK employees, imposing the measures which also require make-up artists in stores to not use their own brushes or “apply makeup on a customer”.

The correspondence added that all makeover appointments had been cancelled and that while customers are still welcome to use samples provided in-store, they must use disposable applicators when doing so.

The e-mail stated, "“All appointments that are currently booked in have now been cancelled.”

Artists will be provided with face charts, which they can use to recommend products, but they are banned from demonstrating on themselves or each other during trading hours.

The news comes as the number of confirmed UK cases hits 456.
