M90 like 'ice rink' as two crashes cause major delays into Edinburgh

Drivers travelling to and from Edinburgh this afternoon on the M90 are facing major delays after two crashes on the busy route.

The first incident took place shortly after 1pm, heading southbound between J3 A92 (Halbeath) and J2 A823(M) Pitreavie near Dunfermline, Fife.

Two lanes are currently blocked and traffic is queueing on approach due to the accident - however, traffic is able to pass on the hard shoulder.

According to reports on Fife Jammer Locations, a local Facebook group, the collision took place between a mini, a red Corsa, two vans and a Mercedes.

Another user added: "Weather is horrendous and roads are slush and ice! It's like an ice rink out there!"

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 1.15pm and are working to clear the incident. It is understood that no one was injured.

A second incident is currently ongoing northbound at the same junction with two lanes blocked, very slow traffic and queueing traffic.
