A man has died following a late night crash on the M90 near Kelty.
A stretch of the motorway was closed for almost seven hours after the crash, which happened on the northbound carriageway at 11.05pm on Sunday.
Police say that the crash happened when a silver Renault Grand Scenic hit the central reservation of the road. A Seat Leon then hit the Renault.
The front seat passenger in the Renault died after being rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.
Road policing teams say that enquiries are ongoing in a bid to establish the man's identity, and efforts are continuing as they bid to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
Inspector Greg Burns of the road policing unit said: "We would be interested in speaking to anyone who may have seen these vehicles on the road before the collision or who may have passed the scene immediately following the incident.
"Anyone who was on the M90 and using a dashcam is asked to review their footage and let us know if you may have anything which could assist our investigation."
