Man and woman rushed to hospital after horror rush hour smash on M9

Two people have been hospitalised following a crash with a motorbike on the M9.

A woman has been rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow and a man taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital after the crash at around 4.50pm this evening.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the road traffic collision on the motorway at the entry of junction seven occurred.

As a result of the smash long queues have built leading back to junction six on the road that runs from Edinburgh to Dunblane.

The M9 westbound has been closed between junction six and junction seven.

Traffic Scotland is urging drivers to find alternative routes where possible.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergencies services are currently in attendance at M9 Junction 7 northbound following a crash involving a motorbike.

“One man has been taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital and a woman has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. Diversions are in place."
