M80 traffic chaos as six vehicle pile up forces road closure

A six-vehicle crash on the M80 motorway in Falkirk has forced the closure of the road.

Drivers face lengthy delays for three miles after officers from Police Scotland and paramedics were called to junction seven at Haggs earlier today.

The smash involved two lorries and four cars as debris can be seen strewn across the roads.

As a result of the incident lanes two have been shut after the emergency services were called at 10.45am.

No one was injured as a result of the crashes.

Traffic Scotland advised drivers to avoid the area as they face 40 minute delays that tail back three miles.

In a tweet they said: "#M80 northbound J7 Haggs - a multivehicle RTC is blocking lanes 2 and 3 of 3. Traffic only manage to pass in lane 1 at the moment.

"Traffic queuing 3 miles back to J6 Westerwood. #Avoid delays of over 40 mins."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We were called at 10.45am to the M80 after a multi-vehicle crash.

"Two lanes have been closed.

"No one has been seriously injured."
