M8 traffic: One-hour delays as broken down lorry partly blocks Newbridge Roundabout

Commuters travelling into Edinburgh from Glasgow and West Lothian by car are facing major delays this morning due to a broken down lorry. 

The Sainsbury's HGV is currently blocking the A8 Glasgow Road turnoff on the Newbridge Roundabout - the incident has been ongoing since around 7am this morning.

It is understood that traffic is queuing on all approaches, with the huge tailbacks on the M8.

Transport Scotland said on Twitter: "M9 Newbridge Roundabout Broken down HGV on the roundabout at the Glasgow Road offslip causing long delays on approachM8 eastbound traffic queuing from J3A - delays approx 55 min."

Meanwhile, Edin Travel News - a council-run traffic and travel feed - estimated that delays were around one hour from Broxburn.

One motorists shared a photo from the scene, writing: "Not good. Left lane to airport flowing."

"Wonderful. Happy Friday", said another.
