A five-vehicle smash on the M8 tonight has caused traffic chaos.
Officers from and paramedics have been called to junction one at on the motorway that connects Scotland's two biggest cities, and .
As a result of the crash both lanes heading eastbound have been closed at the A720 westbound slip to allow removal of the vehicles.
Traffic is heavy on approach to the area, with vehicles stretching back to junction two.
It is not known at this stage if anyone has been injured in the incident.
A Police Scotland statement read: "Please be aware emergency services are dealing with a road crash on the M8 at the Edinburgh City Bypass, near the Hermiston Gait Junction."
