Firefighters are currently battling a large blaze which has engulfed an HGV truck on the M8 near the Heartlands Interchange.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the eastbound carriageway at the Junction 4a slip road at 2.51pm on Thursday.
A truck has gone up in flames as two fire appliances from Whitburn and Bathgate battle the ongoing blaze.
The busy slip road has been closed and motorists are being warned to use caution and expect delays in the surrounding area.
It is not currently known if anyone has been injured.
Traffic Scotland tweeted: “M8 vehicle fire E/B entry slip at J4a is closed due to a vehicle fire. “Emergency services are on scene.”
A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called shortly before 3pm and remain at the scene.
