M8 to face partial closure for three nights in West Lothian for resurfacing works

West Lothian drivers are being warned that part of the M8 will be closed for three nights for resurfacing work.

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 1.5 kilometres of the eastbound M8 near Livingston starting on Wednesday, July 27.

On the nights of July 27, 28 and 29 the eastbound M8 between Junction 3A and Junction 3 will be closed between the hours of 8.30pm until 6am.

A signed diversion route will be in place from Junction 3A to Junction 3 via the A779, A89 and A899, adding around five miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve ride quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M8.

“A carriageway closure is essential for the safety of workers and motorists, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption.

“We will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible and thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org, twitter at @trafficscotland or the mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
