M8 roadworks and overnight closures at Charing Cross Tunnel

Drivers are being warned of overnight roadworks on the M8 all this week.

Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will be carrying out essential electrical repairs on the M8 eastbound at Charing Cross tunnel from tomorrow (Monday).

The road will be closed completely along this stretch of the carriageway every night until Sunday morning (April 14).

Aled Davies, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Lighting Engineer said: "We are planning these works for a total of six overnights to reduce disruption to commuters and business traffic.

"Scotland TranServ has worked in consultation with the local authority, emergency services and key stakeholders. As such, special access will be retained for emergency service vehicles throughout these works.”

The road will be closed every night from 10pm (April 8) until 6am on Sunday.

Signed local diversions will be in place throughout the works.

Drivers are advised to allow additional time for their journeys, and to check live updates on trafficscotland.org or to follow @trafficscotland on Twitter.
