M8 motorway closed in Glasgow due to 'ongoing police incident'

A section of the M8 motorway in Glasgow has been closed due to an "ongoing police incident".

Emergency services raced to the report of a crash on the busy road at around 7.35am on Sunday, November 28.

Officers closed off the road westbound between junction 16 and 17 near St George's Cross following the incident.

Over four hours later the road remains closed and police are still at the scene.

Cars are currently leaving the carriageway at junction 16, Craighall.

Traffic is queuing on approach.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: "UPDATE 11:40 #M8 Remains CLOSED W/B due to an ongoing police incident between J16 and J17. #M8 J16 - J17. No entry.

"All traffic W/B is leaving the carriageway at J16 (Craighall).

"Traffic still queueing on approach."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.35am on Sunday, November 28, officers were called to a road crash on the M8 at J17.

"The road is currently closed and police are at the scene."
