M8 crash victim, 74, tragically dies in hospital after being struck by van on Kingston Bridge

A pensioner has tragically died after being struck by a van on the M8 in Glasgow.

The 74-year-old was driving a blue Toyota Corolla when he got out of the vehicle on the Kingston Bridge and was hit by a white Mercedes Sprinter van on December 3.

Emergency services raced to the scene after the alarm was raised at around 10am and the man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police Scotland have now confirmed that the OAP has sadly passed away as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the van was uninjured and enquiries into the crash remain ongoing.

The on-slip road was closed for more than four hours while a full accident investigation probe took place.

A police spokesperson said: “A 74-year-old man, who was struck by a van on the Kingston Bridge, Glasgow, on Thursday 3 December, has died from his injuries.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident number 0841 of 3 December.”
