M8 crash next to Glasgow Royal Infirmary causes major traffic delays

A crash involving multiple vehicles has caused major delays on the M8 on Sunday afternoon after all four lanes of the eastbound carriageway were initially closed.

The smash, which happened at around 2.30pm on Sunday, involved around four vehicles, including one which hit the central reservation of the motorway.

Traffic was tailed back all the way across the Kingston Bride to the other side of the River Clyde with drivers heading east advised to try to find a different route.

The Fire Service and Police Scotland both attended the accident.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "An adult female casualty was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary".

The woman's injuries are not thought be life threatening.

Traffic Scotland earlier warned of major delays on the road, and tweeted: "Traffic is currently at a standstill on the M8 eastbound due to the multi vehicle RTC blocking 4 lanes at J15.
