A man has been taken to hospital following the second crash which occurred on the M8 earlier this morning.
The road traffic collision, involving a lorry and a van, took place on the M8 eastbound at Junction 6A (Chapelhall) around 7.45am.
Emergency services attended and a man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital for treatment and later transferred to Hairmyres Hospital.
Police have issued an appeal for any driver using the M8 this morning, and who may have witnessed the incident or have dash cam footage, to contact them.
Sergeant Andrew Currie said: "I would ask any driver using the M8 in the early hours of this morning who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have dash cam footage, to please contact police."
Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101 quoting reference number 0535 of 2 October, 2020.
It comes following the news that one person has died following a road traffic collision which took place shortly after 4am this morning on the M8 Eastbound at Shotts.
The M8 remains closed to traffic as enquiries continue into both crashes.
