M8 crash in Glasgow: Kingston Bridge traffic delays as police rush to scene

There are significant traffic delays on the M8 after a crash by the Kingston Bridge in Glasgow this afternoon.

Police are at the scene following the collision which was first reported at 2.50pm.

Two lanes at junction 22 on the eastbound section of the motorway were closed following the incident, however, this has now been reduced to one lane closure as emergency services respond to the crash.

Traffic Scotland says the congestion is tailing back all the way to junction 23 in approach to rush hour.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.

Traffic Scotland confirmed at 2.50pm: "#M8 RTC Lane 2 (of 3) blocked E/B just after J22 TRISS & Police en route Traffic is queuing on approach."

UPDATE: A Police Scotland spokesperson has since confirmed: “Around 2.40 pm on Tuesday, 6 April, 2021, police received a report of a two vehicle crash on the eastbound carriageway of the Kingston Bridge.

“There were no reports of anyone seriously injured however an elderly man has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary as a precautionary measure."
