The M8 has been closed in both directions following a " police incident " this afternoon.
Emergency services raced to the busy motorway at junction 3 after the alarm was raised at around 1.36pm on Sunday, October 24.
The junction is near Livingston in West Lothian and a large section of the road has been sealed off.
The nature of the incident is not yet known but officers are currently at the scene.
Traffic Scotland alerted drivers on Twitter, posting: "New 13.36. M8 closed both ways at J3 due to police incident."
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Police Scotland have been asked for comment.
