M8 closed after carriageway left covered in 'large amount' of debris

The M8 in Glasgow has been closed after the carriageway was left covered in a “large amount” of debris.

Debris falling from a lorry at Junction 22 eastbound on the Plantation interchange just after the Kingston Bridge, was reported at 9.07am this morning, Friday February 5.

The M77 slip road has also been closed, with motorists being advised to expect delays.

The incident left lane three blocked, before the road was closed completely at 9:25am.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The M8 is closed between Junction 22 and Junction 17.

“This is due to debris which has fallen from a lorry.”

Traffic Scotland are warning of delays back to Junction 23 with traffic building on the M77 at Junction 1.

A statement online from the organisation reads: “The M8 now closed E/B at J22 due to an RTC and a large amount of debris on the carriageway.

“Traffic slowing back to J23 and building on the M77 at J1

“Do prepare for delays and give yourself plenty travel time.”
