M8 Charing Cross crash: Paisley Golf Club pays tribute to 'very popular' member Dave and wife who died in crash

The Captain of Paisley Golf Club has paid tribute to their vice captain 'Dave' who lost his life alongside wife Allison in the M8 crash at the weekend.

The crash happened around 2.40pm on the eastbound carriageway of the M8 road, near to Junction 17 in Glasgow, when a white coloured BMW 1 car collided with a crash barrier and caught fire.

David Campbell, 54, and Allison Campbell, 51, sadly lost their lives following Sunday's incident at Charing Cross.

David was a key member of the club, and was due to become the Club Captain this year.

On behalf of the golf club, captain Billy Anderson told Glasgow Live : "Dave was a very popular member of Paisley Golf Club and was due to become the Club Captain in early December. The passing of Dave has left everyone at the club in shock.

"Over the last few years Dave has been a huge asset to the Club and dedicated a vast amount of time helping in many areas of the club. Over the last 12 months he was very involved in developing our Junior section and was extremely popular with all the Junior members and their families.

"Both Dave and Alison will be sadly missed by everyone at the Club and our thoughts remain with their family at this sad time."
