M8 car crash driver rushed to hospital after rush hour collision

A man is in hospital following a crash on the M8 this morning.

The 29-year-old has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary after the single vehicle accident at Junction 12 at the Cumbernauld Road interchange.

His condition is not yet known.

The road was closed for two hours causing significant tailbacks for commuter traffic.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We were called around 6.35am this morning to a report of a crash on the M8 near Junction 12, eastbound, involving a car.

"The driver, a 29-year-old man, has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary by the Scottish Ambulance Service."
