M77 closed as emergency services attend incident with lorry on fire

The M77 near Kilmarnock has been closed due to a lorry on fire.

The vehicle is on the hard shoulder near Junction 7 (between Fenwick and Kingswell) northbound and has caused the route to be closed off.

It was originally closed northbound, and then Traffic Scotland announced that it is closed in both directions.

One lane southbound has since reopened.

In a post on their Twitter, they said: "M77 Vehicle Fire. Northbound near J7 on the hard shoulder.

"Emergency services are en route."

And they added: "M77 remains closed N/B J7-J6 due to a vehicle fire.

"S/B lane 1 (of 2) has reopened. Emergency services are on scene. Long delays in the area."

Drivers are urged to find alternative routes if possible.
