M74: lanes closed following accident at Junction 3

Two lanes of the M74 at Daldowie are closed this afternoon following a crash.

Motorists are being warned that lanes two and three (of three) are closed in both directions at Junction 3 due to a one vehicle lorry accident.

Emergency services are on the scene.

No one has been injured in the accident.

A breakdown northbound is also now partially blocking Junction 4 to Junction 3a where traffic is already heavier than normal due to the accident.

Traffic southbound from Junction 2 is also slow on approach.

Earlier this afternoon Traffic Scotland warned drivers across Lanarkshire to use caution due to surface water affecting conditions.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed the accident and said: "Around 1.30pm on Wednesday, May 12, we received a report of a one vehicle crash involving a lorry on the M74 northbound near to junction three.

"Emergency services are in attendance and uplift of the vehicle is being arranged. The northbound carriageway and lane three of the southbound carriageway are both closed. Local diversions are in place.

"There are no reports of any injuries."
